How it all started
Born from a Love of Surfing
Mai Ke Kai — Hawaiian for "From the Sea" — began as a dream shared by a group of surfers who fell in love with Tamarindo's perfect waves, warm people, and infectious pura vida spirit.
What started as a simple guesthouse grew into a full surf camp experience. We wanted a place where travelers could arrive as strangers and leave as lifelong friends — all connected by their shared love for the ocean.
Today, we welcome guests from over 30 countries every year. Whether you're a first-time surfer or a seasoned wave-chaser, Mai Ke Kai is your home base for the ultimate Costa Rica surf experience.
